"The Magic Tree"
Gouache and Faber Castell Polychromos pencils on Canson watercolour Board
As part of my mindful forest series, "The Magic Tree" is close to my heart. A giant Maple, the Magic Tree is nestled in a grove at the base of Happy Hill. It is a gently flowing giant that holds many secrets. We always make sure to visit it every time we're in the forest. I absolutely adore its sap green leaves that always seem to catch the glints of sunlight filtering down through the forest. It is so huge that when you stand at the base of it, you just see twisting and winding trunks twirling up above you. It always seems like the majestic Mother of the forest, and I can feel its energy vibrating from its textured bark; visiting it feels like a meditative, spiritual practice. It has fresh maple leaves growing out at captivating angles all up the main trunk, a true Mother tree. I love this tree and just had to paint it!
